Born in Scranton, S.C. in 1913. Citadel Class of 1934. Brigadier General, U.M.S.C. Earned an M.S. degree from the University of Kentucky in 1936 and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1949. Taught physics at The Citadel from 1936-1942, and 1946-1979. In 1953, he was the head of the Physics deparment. In 1966, he was academic dean.
