May 11, 1865-October 1, 1933. Citadel Class of 1886. He spent his entire life at The Citadel. Immediately after graduation he started as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. In 1908 he became the Superintendent of The Citadel. In 1910 the title was changed from superintendent to president. He relinquished this role in 1931 so that General Summerall could become president. Bond returned to the mathematics department for the remaining two years of his life. He wrote The Story of The Citadel, 1936 (U430 .C5 S57 1989). His portrait hangs in the Daniel Library. (Sources: Who Was Who in America, vol. 1, p. 114.
