The Citadel has no official Motto but sometimes the epigrams on The Citadel cap badge (derived from the South Carolina state seal) are used:
Dum Spiro Spero (DOOM SPEE-roe SPAY-roe) While I breath I hope.
Animus Opibusque Parati (AH-nee-meese OH-pee-BOOSE-quay pah-RAH-tee) Prepared in Mind and Resources.
